On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am delighted to welcome back our students, parents, staff members and well-wishers for the new academic year.
Throughout the years, Nile Valley School has enjoyed a proven track record of success and earned a reputation for academic excellence by providing high educational standards. The Board of Directors is committed to providing every possible means of support to the School leadership in order to ensure that our NVS students develop the multi-talented skills and benefits derived from a positive learning experience. We are justly proud of our outstanding varied, global oriented school curriculum that is not only American based but also follows the IGCSE program in partnership with the Cambridge International Examination Board. Student academic growth is measured by MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing three times a year via an online assessment that is aligned to the Common Core standards.
The Board of Directors is greatly appreciative of our teaching and non-teaching staff who give generously of their many talents to provide quality learning opportunities for the students. We are pleased to have an energetic, creative, highly qualified and enthusiastic group of teachers who uphold the highest academic standards. During the course of this school year, we will ensure that regular monitoring of the school’s performance is a collaborative undertaking. As such, we encourage parental support in matters such as ensuring the completion of homework assignments and having students arrive at school promptly in the morning.
It is our resolve that parental involvement and working in partnership with our teaching faculty for the benefit of their children, will result in a well-rounded quality education for the students that have been entrusted to our care. We are proud of each and every one.
We look forward to a great academic year ahead. A year that is filled with exciting extra curricula activities and a challenging academic program.
With best wishes for a successful school year. Mr. Mamoun Gamal

Welcome to the website of Nile Valley School, Khartoum. We hope that the information we have provided about our school is useful to you. If you need further information, please contact any of us at NVS and we will do our very best to help.
Nile Valley is entering its sixth year of operations and already has established a reputation as one of Khartoum’s leading international schools, providing a quality American/British education that has a profound effect on parents, staff and students.
Most importantly of all, however, we are privileged to have some of the best educators in Khartoum, a diverse and talented student body of 360 students and a wonderfully capable and supportive qualified Staff.
A great school is not about the facilities and the resources, however, but about the people and its core beliefs. Our core beliefs are represented well in our Mission Statement and vision. Through outstanding teaching in a nurturing and supportive environment, NVS inspires students to:
• Achieve their academic potential
• Be passionate, reflective learners
• Become caring global citizens
• Lead healthy, active and balanced lives
These points are the main “transportable gifts” that we want NVS students to take away with them when they move to college or to other schools. NVS has begun a tradition of educating students for success in the world community and we look forward to many more years of continuing with this tradition. The world community will change as will pathways to success, and our job is to make sure we provide the most relevant educational experiences to our students.
Offering the American CCSS from Kindergarten to Grade 8 and the IGCSE from Grade 9 to 11, we recognize learning as a life-long adventure. NVS values meaningful and transferable learning where we construct understanding by developing and applying knowledge, skills and attitudes. As learners, we develop and show our understanding when we:
• Apply our learning to new situations
• Inquire to extend our learning
• Create solutions
• Communicate our learning effectively
• Make connections across our learning
• Reflect critically on our learning
We are looking forward to an exciting and busy school year for 2018-19 with excellent academics that achieves the best of every student combined with a full curriculum of art, music, sport and technology.
